Symptom/Filter a diagnosis of post production.
1) Syndrome – manifestation of a range of symptoms
2) Filter – to subject (an image) to the action of a filter.
3) Image (Manipulated) – developed through a process of filtration. ie. The image is constructed by application of a range of filters. Both the specific filters and the specific symptoms are superficial in that they are not the work itself, rather it is their collective result that yields the syndrome or the image.
4) The collective result of the symptom/filter is the syndrome/artwork. The condition can be diagnosed. The artwork can be critiqued. Without the full set of symptoms/filters neither the condition nor the artwork would be complete.
5) This suggests a satisfying relationship between the filter and the symptom which is invisible and yet present in this brief argument. While it may not be apparent to the viewer it lends a degree of authenticity to the post-production of the image.
